Reconnect Moving Forward — Update & Hope
Hello Friends —
As we move into this new season of reconnect, continuing to hold Matt up in prayer, it is inevitable that our thoughts turn to the future. Many people have been asking about what may lie ahead.
Three things have been made crystal-clear to me at this time:
1. As Barry likes to say “God is still in the dead-raising business” and far from being dead, I see God moving in the hearts of people in reconnect every time we gather.
2. The leadership of St. Paul’s continues to desire to honour your service past present, and the mission of reconnect.
3. A renewed commitment by us to serve as a community of lay leaders is absolutely vital to moving forward.
So the good news is that as far as anyone can tell, we are ON each Sunday going forward. We will continue to be taught by the regular St. Paul’s teaching team until new arrangements can be made in line with the original mission of reconnect to reach un-churched and de-churched 20s and 30s in our area.
The great news is that there’s an unmistakable sense that God is at work at reconnect. I don’t believe that God takes pleasure in the suffering of any of us, but I DO believe that He will shape us as individuals and as a community through this challenging time and that it will be a period of unparalleled soul-growth at reconnect.
Of course, this will involve lots of work. But you are also gifted and we can work to equip and support each other where we fall short. Check this out. I believe that God still energizes people like this:
Acts 2:42-47 The Fellowship of the Believers
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
So let’s carry on with “glad and sincere hearts” certain that although we may not know what the future holds, God does! Can’t wait to see you all again this Sunday night.
Jack
